The magician

Christian Jedinat. Hands you cannot trust. A smile you will believe anything.

Host, magician, landlord of the impossible. For over a decade he has stood at the table himself — not on some distant stage, but a hand's breadth from his guests.

The path

From dental technician to magician.

Precision work in the tightest of spaces, steady hands, an eye for the details others miss — in hindsight, Christian's first profession was the perfect school of magic. At some point he traded the lab for the black table. The Aachener Zeitung told the story under exactly this headline: “From dental technician to magician”.

Today he fills his own theatre more than 240 times a year — with cards, coins, ropes, thoughts. And with the kind of humour that turns spectators into accomplices.

The signature

Close, honest, without the pathos.

Eye to eye

No tailcoat posturing, no smoke machine: Christian works his magic in conversation — and just when you feel safe, it happens.

Craft, not hocus-pocus

Behind every effortless second lie thousands of hours of practice. You don't see them — you feel them.

A host by passion

From the welcome glass to the final applause: here the artist himself walks you through the house. 62 guests, one host, zero distance.

Away from the table

And when he's not doing magic?

Then he's probably planning the next show, bringing guest artists like Denis Behr or Thomas Otto to Aachen — or standing on other people's stages and at weddings, carrying the wonder to wherever it's needed.

But his favourite spot is exactly where everything belongs: behind the black table, an arm's length from you.

Frequently asked questions about Christian

Does Christian perform at the table himself at every show?

Almost always — the Black Table is his theatre and his stage. Several times a year he also invites international guest artists, whose evenings are little events in their own right.

Does he reveal his tricks?

No — out of respect for the wonder and for you. An explained trick is simply one less mystery in the world.

Can you book Christian for private events?

Yes, for weddings, company parties and galas — close-up among the guests or as a stage programme. All the details under “Book a magician”.

How long has the Black Table been around?

It opened in September 2015 — and turned ten in September 2025. The curtain still rises more than 240 times a year.
